Skoda sales have increased in India. Foreign automakers are attempting to make more of an impact in one of the world’s fastest growing car markets. Skoda has been making great strides in doing so.
The rise in fuel prices and overall auto market expenses casted doubt over whether any auto maker could pull off a new record. Skoda India’s sales increased in September by 2,312 cars which is a 39 per cent increase in sales when compared to the same period in 2011. Last year in September, Skoda India sold 1,670 units in September.
Skoda now approach the usually high selling festive season with great optimism. Building a great deal of momentum heading into the holiday months, Skoda India will be full of confidence. Sudhir Rao, echoed those statements and believes the company’s best months are yet to come. They believe their products will be some of the best on the market and will help increase sales.
Their strategy seems to focus on offering a high level of customer service, bettering rivals. Their Indian line-up consists of the Skoda Laura, the Skoda Fabia, the Skoda Yeti and the brand new Skoda Rapid. These are undoubtedly quality vehicles which suit the Indian car market perfectly. The Czech company have released the Ambition Plus and Active Plus as variants to the new Skoda Rapid recently.
Dealer networks are being increased in terms of quality and presence. At the moment there are 106 dealers in the country and number should increase by the end of the year.
Skoda’s manufacturing plant in India is located in Maharashtra, with the plant containing 300,000 sq mt of space.
Nissan have also seen their sales increase in September by a sizeable amount. Sales increased by 64.24 per cent for the Japanese company reaching a total of 3,574. Great demand of the Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny had increased by quite a considerable amount helping the company to rise up the sales charts.
The Skoda Rapid was recently shown off at the Paris Motor Show. Alongside vehicles such as the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Rapid brought some refreshment and reality to the event. The car is expected to sell well throughout Europe and here in the UK too. Skoda India also expects the car to do well in India too after recently being added to the line-up.
