Volkswagen are set to add a touch screen Bluetooth hand free system within their next generation of Polo’s that are a step above the entry level S trim. That’s quite a major step for the Polo. It will have a similar sort of equipment list as the Scirocco and the Phaeton, two highly luxurious vehicles.

This means that the Touch Phone Kit will be available in all Bluemotion Volkswagen Polo’s and above. This was an optional extra previously, costing £245. Fans will be pleased that they will no longer have to pay that amount to receive that extra slice of quality.

The luxurious piece of equipment comes with a 2.8 colour touch screen which sits nicely within the Volkswagen Polo’s dashboard. Your smart phone’s Bluetooth will be able to neatly connect to the car’s touch screen system and display all names and numbers within the phone book. Other information can also be displayed including the phone’s reception status. More information can be displayed however this depends on the specific smart phone’s capabilities.

Safety first

If you have been reading our Ford Blog, you will know all about the Ford Sync system available to Ford owners over in America. This neatly allows the driver to control various functionalities of their entertainment system, phone system and car through voice command. Voice control over phone systems have available here in the UK in car’s such as Porsche’s, BMW and Mercedes-Benz’s. Volkswagen has implemented a similar type of functionality with their Touch Phone Kit. That means that drivers will be able to answer phone calls or make phone calls without the need to dial. Texting has become a major problem whilst behind the wheel. Volkswagen’s Touch Phone Kit allows the driver to text by simply speaking out the words they wish to speak. E-mails are also able to be sent in a similar type of fashion. The system can also connect to two phones at the same time if needed.

This is another pleasing announcement for Volkswagen Polo fans. It was previously announced that all new models would receive DAB radio as standard.  It would appear that Volkswagen is attempting to enhance their reputation somewhat into becoming a more luxurious type of car brand. As mentioned earlier, the Volkswagen Polo can now stand on the same podium as the likes of the Scirooco, Phaeton and Jetta when it comes to equipment. The Ford Fiesta and company may find things difficult this time round.
