Automotive reports from India have confirmed the release of the Volkswagen Vento. The mid – range saloon diesel is expected to be one of the company’s success stories this year, given that it is a diesel. It will be named the Volkswagen Vento Comfortline. The new vehicle will be powered by a 1.6 litre diesel engine able to produce 105 BHP.
Diesel cars all important
Fuel prices are driving many motorists off the road, especially in India. More drivers are looking for economical options than ever before. The Vento diesel would be such a bad choice. It strikes a good balance between performance and efficiency. The Comfortline slots in the middle of the current variants of the Treadline and the Highline.
The high quality audio system will be quite an attractive feature within the vehicle. The driver’s seat will be made adjustable for height, there will be rear fog lights with colour matching door handles and mirrors. Essentially the car will offer a lot more than the Treadline. There will also be electrically adjustable rear view mirrors on the exterior of the car. The seat can be adjusted for height making the driving position perfect.
No airbags or ABS?
Unfortunately the new model does not contain ABS or airbags, two vitally important pieces of safety equipment needed within India. This decision will not play into Volkswagen’s hands when it comes to swaying customers away from rivals. The Hyundai Verna as well as the Honda City offer ABS and airbags as standard on the entry level trims.
Was the Volkswagen Vento a highly requested car?
According to Neeraj Garg, who is the Board & Director of Volkswagen Passenger cars, there have been numerous requests for such a car to be introduced into the Indian car market.
Volkswagen’s faith in the Indian car market
The Volkswagen group are clearly making great progress within India car market and looking to go even further. Recently the company have invested millions in Skoda factories in bringing localised production of the car to the country. The Indian automotive market is one of the fastest growing in the world and will play a major part in Volkswagen achieving their 2018 target, to become the world’s number one car producer.
Available to buy now in India
The car is now available in Volkswagen dealerships across India for an approximate £10,000
