Volkswagen have done it again. They have reported a 26.3 % rise of 2011 sales over in the USA.

The December records as well as the overall year figures were something that Europe’s largest car manufacturer can be very proud of.
It was in fact the best December ever recorded in the country since 1972. December sales alone accounted for 32,502 cars.
This equated to a 36.2 % rise as compared to 2011.

The yearly sales records were best recorded since 2002. The Volkswagen Passat, built in Chattanooga was a great factor in helping Volkswagen smash their own previous records.
It sold 22,779 units in 2011 which is an increase of 124 % when comparing the 6,884 sales figure last year.
The car was so good that it was nominated as the North American Car of the Year.

The 2012 edition Volkswagen Beetle Coupe was did not achieve similar success.
It only managed to sell around 11,874 in 2010 but sold just 5,626 in 2011 which equates to a -52.6 % loss in sales.
