Volkswagen has reported a rise in sales for the month of February in the United States. In total the German car giants managed to sell 30,577 units which represented 42.5 per cent increase in sales. This rise in sales is the best ever February for the company since 1973.

Customers want more fuel efficient vehicles

Volkswagen put the reasoning down to a rise in customer confidence in America for the company’s products. American motorists, like many across the world are becoming more and more money conscious of running a car. Volkswagen’s products have a great reputation thanks to the balance of great quality, performance and economical benefits. Volkswagen are one of world’s market leaders when it comes to developing technology that allows fuel expenses to be kept down to a minimal.

TDI diesel models accounting for large chunk of sales

TDI clean diesel models are proving to be particularly popular at the moment. They are great for providing drivers with a long range drive without having to refuel. 21.3 per cent of sales come from the TDI engine in question, which is a 54.6 per cent hike compared to January 2012.

Volkswagen Passat

The Volkswagen Passat has been voted as the best family car in 2012. Sales were up with this particular model managing to shift 8,189 units in February.

Volkswagen Jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta is current best seller for the company in America. In total there were 11,694 models sold which marked the best ever February for that specific model.

Volkswagen Beetle

The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle managed to shift 1,303 units. The TDI Clean Diesel Coupe variant of the Beetle will be released in the summer, with it expected to make a huge impact and drive sales even higher.

Volkswagen Tiguan

The Volkswagen Tiguan managed to shift 2,280 units in North America. Again this marked the model’s best ever February.

Volkswagen Touareg

The Touareg had a great input into American Volkswagen sales, by rising 65.1 per cent selling 723 models in total.
