The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse was shown off at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show earlier this month. Needless to say the car gained an allegiance of fans and a great amount of praise from automotive journalists.
It’s all in the title
What does the word Vitesse mean? The Vitesse in the title of the car is a French word meaning speed. The car is super fast if you didn’t know already (we are assuming that most of you did).
Extremely powerful 8.0 litre engine
Just by looking at the car you can imagine the amount of power that it is able to produce. Some however may be surprised at the official statistics. It holds a powerful 8.0 litre W16 engine which has enough to satisfy anybody. The engine achieves a great 1,200 BHP at 6,400 RPM. The maximum amount of torque is achieved between 3,000 RPM and 5,000 RPM.
Larger turbochargers and intercoolers
Bettering the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, this is the most powerful Bugatti that has ever been built. The roadster’s 16 cylinder engine has larger turbochargers and intercoolers. There is a modified chassis as the power increase must be catered for.
All four wheels get their fair share of power thanks to a seven speed direct shift gearbox. Shifting gears will take just 0.1 seconds when used properly.
Do you need to come out of second gear?
In the car’s first gear the car can hit 64 MPH. Second gear can hit 91 MPH. You wouldn’t really need to change gear as there would be no need to go any faster. If you do, third gear can hit 122 MPH, fourth gear can hit 159 MPH, fifth gear can hit 194 MPH, sixth gear can hit 234 MPH and the seventh gear reaches 254 MPH.
Amazing acceleration ratings
The total weight of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse equates to 1.990 kg. The lightweight of the car helps the car hit 0 – 62 MPH in just 2.6 seconds. Covering a mile will take just 25 seconds from standstill with a quarter of mile being reached in just 10 seconds.
The car’s carbon ceramic brakes help the Vitesse control all of that power of which it contains. Stopping power is extremely high as it is an essential feature of a car of this nature.
