The new generation Volkswagen Caddy was released in 2010 and has seen great success.

The fourth instalment of the van received a whole load of new features throughout and it has gone down very well.

We take a look at our favourite points of the new Caddy.

Engine choices

There is a choice of four engines with the van. These include two variants each of the 1.6 litre TDI and the 2.0 TDI engines.

The lowest powered engine is the 1.6 litre TDI which has an output of 74 BHP. The other variant is able to produce around 100 BHP. Both of which are adequate enough to drive around in terms of power.

The 2.0 TDI engine’s least powerful variant achieves 108 BHP and comes Volkswagen 4 MOTION. The more powerful variant is able to produce 138 BHP.

All engines mentioned are controlled by either a five speed manual transmission, which comes as standard or a seven speed DSG gearbox which is an optional extra.

Handling

The handling on the Volkswagen Caddy is one of its best features. Some say that it is so good that the van handles like a car. The suspension installed within is based upon the Volkswagen Golf/Touran. The van feels solid when taking corners. Overall the Volkswagen Caddy is a pleasurable vehicle to drive.

Practicality

The van is versatile and is able to be used for those who need to make deliveries around the city. Extras on the van include useful roof rails and cornering lights. The standard model has a load volume of 3.2 cubic metres, giving it a great amount of load space.
