The Volkswagen Golf has won yet again another award, this time for its Cabriolet variant. It has been the first award for Golf Cabriolet, with it winning the Open-top Car of the Year 2011 prize at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards.

The Judges who selected car said it was an entertaining package, economical as well being a great asset for residents to make the most of the sunshine. “Scots love to make the most of the sunshine as quickly and as easily as possible, so our winner has to have a fast moving roof. It also needs to keep the weather at bay on those rare occasions when the sun doesn’t shine in Scotland.

“An entertaining drive is a must, as are pocket-friendly running costs. Our drop top of the year delivers all of this and even lets you take more than just one friend along for the fun.”

It was paraded as one of Volkswagen’s main attractions at the Geneva Motor Show 2011. The car is  very attractive looking and offers great practicality too, as you would expect with a Golf. The electrically powered fabric rood can lower itself in just 9.5 seconds, when the car is travelling below 18 MPH.
